Fit to fundraise!

Last week was a flurry of fitness activity for us all as we started our fitness regime. Its very different for us all, different types and levels of fitness all working towards one common goal, summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro without any ill effects.

Claire and Mel both completed their second Yoga class with their Level 3 students. This weeks was tough, really focussing on strength building – both of them stretched muscles they were not aware of!

All three ladies hit the gym for a serious weights session, with exercises recommended for climbing Kili. No photos available of this though, far too busy!

Stair climbing was also on the agenda, ten minutes twice last week, to develop strength climbing. It is important to develop both walking up and down to develop the muscles needed when summiting and descending the mountain, the earlier this is started, the better!

Then today Mel went rowing, it was tough after her hip was still hurting after the 3 and 5 mile run done last week but rowing seems to loosen it up, and it is a great stress reliever! Trying to keep upright in the boat is something that makes the mind turn everything off, so you have an hour of thinking about nothing but staying dry!
